FIA release statement after Max Verstappen rocked up 15 mins late to press conference | F1 | Sport

The FIA have confirmed that Red Bull will not be penalised after Max Verstappen turned up late to a press conference ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix. The Dutchman, who is chasing back-to-back victories after winning in Spain last weekend, ran into some transport issues on his way to the circuit.

Verstappen took a private jet to Spielberg but saw his flight delayed, meaning he arrived later than originally planned. He ended up being 15 minutes late to his press conference on Thursday, which is technically a breach of the regulations, but the FIA have confirmed that no further action will be taken.

In a statement, the governing body said: “The media delegate reported that the driver had some transportation issues on the way to the track, but the team informed the FIA in advance.”
