West Ham will focus on improving their current players over completing any major business in January, assistant manager Billy McKinlay insists.

The Hammers have been linked with signing a new forward in the transfer window.

Sunderland’s Jack Clarke has been mooted as a possible target for David Moyes.

But McKinlay said: “We’re always looking to do business in terms of improving the squad.

“It’s a really difficult window, as everyone always talks about in January. We’ll be on the lookout to see if there’s anything that we think can improve the squad, but we’re fully focused on what’s in the building.”
