Australian Open LIVE: Novak Djokovic singles out Nadal as Zverev rages in Medvedev defeat | Tennis | Sport

Novak Djokovic is already being forced to think about the next Grand Slam of the year – the French Open – after being knocked out of the Australian Open by Jannik Sinner.

Djokovic’s hunt for a 25th Grand Slam title will take him to Roland Garros, where he claims Nadal will go in as the favourite if he’s fit and firing, despite the Spaniard’s injury woes.

“Let’s see how the players play in the next several months, particularly on the clay, in the clay season,” Djokovic said. “It’s a completely different surface with different conditions.

“Some players are probably more favourites than others on clay just because it’s kind of a surface that suits certain types of tennis players.

“But of course, if Nadal is playing, he’s always a favourite there, No 1, no doubt. Regardless of the fact that he hasn’t played much, but he is who he is in Roland Garros.”
