F1 LIVE: Max Verstappen’s Red Bull exit clause as dad Jos explains Toto Wolff meeting | F1 | Sport

F1 world champion Damon Hill has urged Lewis Hamilton not to ‘slack off’ as he approaches the end of his spell with Mercedes.

Hamilton has one more season at the Silver Arrows before joining Ferrari in 2025.

And Hill believes winding down gradually could come back to bite the Brit when he bids to hit the ground running with the Scuderia.

Speaking to the F1 Nation podcast, he said: “Do you remember when he’d sewn up the championship [in 2015], beat Nico [Rosberg], and then Nico won the next three races and then won the championship the following year? You know, you cannot afford to back off too much.

“I think Lewis has got an abundance of talent, he could probably turn it on whenever he wants to, it’ll always be there – but it won’t. That’s the problem, it won’t always be there, because he’s getting on a bit.”
