Transfer news LIVE: Second Man Utd star exiled as Arsenal ‘lead race’ for £60m wonderkid | Football | Sport

We are just over halfway through the January transfer window and all the talk, much like in the summer, is focused on Saudi Arabia – although the publicity is far less favourable for the Kingdom this time around. Al Ettifaq’s Jordan Henderson, the biggest signing of the summer outside of the ‘big four’ clubs, is close to joining Ajax in a permanent move after growing unhappy with life at the club.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Pro League’s marquee talent, Karim Benzema, is also looking for a way out of his Al-Ittihad contract just six months after putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal worth more than £155million.

According to Teamtalk, Arsenal have discussed the possibility of a six-month loan with the Jeddah-based side while Chelsea and Manchester United have also been mooted as possible short-term destinations for the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.
